In a historic first, the first tricolor ever to be hoisted on the Seattle skyline flew at the famous Space Needle on the 79th celebration of India's independence.

The 605-foot-high tower is synonymous with observation decks and all-round viewpoints, and it made history again by sending the 79th tribute for the freedom and the heritage of the nation.

Dignitaries Graced with Their Presence

The flag-hoisting ceremony saw the attendance of the Consul General of India in Seattle, Mayor Bruce Harrell and other significant members of city government.

This day emphasized the strong link par excellence between India and the United States on the cultural and diplomatic slopes. An Italian Consulate in Seattle tweet, featuring photos and the flag of India fluttering in clear sky high above the city halls, has recorded the laughingly awed echo from the witnesses.
