₹5 Crore Drug Haul in Assam, Four Traffickers Caught

650 grams of heroin and nearly 10,000 Yaba tablets have been seized from Puwamara, Assam, which are jointly valued at Rs 11 crore. A group of 4 members alleged to be linked with the trafficking were apprehended.

In a series of systematic operations, Assam police have reinforced their measures to break apart drug cartels functioning in the state. The operation was carried out by the Sribhumi police at Puwamara, which led to the seizure of approximately 650 grams of heroin and nearly 10,000 Yaba tablets, jointly valued at RS 5 Crore. A group of 4 members alleged to be linked with the trafficking were apprehended.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, through an official statement on X, commended the operation and reaffirmed the government’s determination to curb narcotics smuggling.

₹11 Crore Morphine Seized at Six Mile

This development comes just after Karbi Anglong police detained another major shipment at Six Mile, where 10.712 kilograms of morphine valued at ₹11 crore were overtaken, resulting in the arrest of two traffickers. The chief minister of Assam described the raid as a notable achievement, underlining the state’s unwavering stance under the campaign #AssamAgainstDrugs.

Back-to-Back Raids Hit Drug Cartels

On 26 August, Cachar police conducted an operation in Lakipur and stopped a vehicle transporting 416 grams of heroin worth nearly ₹2.8 crore. The operation concluded with the arrest of one individual linked to the shipment.
