Budgam Horror Crash Claims Four Lives, Several Critical in Srinagar Hospital

Four killed and seven injured after a Tata Sumo collided with a dumper truck in Budgam’s Palar locality late Saturday night.

A devastating collision late on Saturday night resulted in the deaths of four people and left seven others injured after a Tata Sumo crashed into a dumper truck in the Palar locality of Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported.

Crash Reported Around 10:30 PM

The accident happened at around 10:30 pm. All nine individuals travelling in the Tata Sumo were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared four victims dead on arrival.
Those who lost their lives were identified as 10-year-old Zainab, 40-year-old Nisar Ahmad Rather, 36-year-old Bashir Ahmad Rather, and 60-year-old Khatoon, all belonging to the Mahwara area.

Seven Injured, Several in Critical Condition

The other seven passengers suffered injuries ranging from moderate to severe. Zoona Bano, Shah, Gulshan, Tasaduq Hussain, and Raja were referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar after medical teams found their condition critical.

The remaining two, Safiya and Jasbeer Singh, a crane operator from Punjab, are currently being treated at the Budgam district hospital.

Police Begin Probe

Police officials have started examining the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine whether speeding, negligence, or another factor caused the crash.

Condolences From Leaders

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sadness over the tragedy. He posted on X: “Extremely pained by the loss of precious lives in a tragic road accident in Budgam. My thoughts are with the bereaved family. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also voiced his sorrow, calling the incident deeply distressing. He directed authorities to ensure full assistance to the victims and their families.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office: “Chief Minister has expressed shock and grief over the tragic accident in Budgam, where multiple lives are feared lost. He has directed the administration to provide every possible assistance and ensure urgent medical care for the injured. The cause of the accident shall be thoroughly investigated.”
