A US Military plane carrying 33 Gujarati immigrants who were among the 104 Indians deported from the United States for illegal immigration, landed at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar on Thursday morning.
Immediately after arrival, officials prepared police vehicles to take them to their native places across Gujarat, tasks that included districts like Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Patan, Vadodara, and Kheda, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ‘G’ Division, R D Oza said.
Deported Immigrants Refuse to Speak
“A plane carrying 33 Gujarati immigrants, including women and children, landed at the airport from Amritsar in the morning. These people are among those deported from the US. We sent police vehicles to the airport to take them to their destinations,” Oza said speaking to reporters.
Despite repeated attempts by media personnel to engage them, the deported immigrants chose to remain silent and swiftly left in the police vehicles.
US Military Aircraft Brought 104 Indians to Amritsar
A US military aircraft carrying 104 illegal Indian immigrants, including 33 from Gujarat, landed in Amritsar, Punjab, on Wednesday. Though the authorities have not shared details of the deportation process, family members of the Gujarati deportees alleged that they did not know how their relatives reached the United States.
Former Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also felt pained at the deportation of Gujaratis. They had gone abroad in search of proper job opportunities and careers. Nothing relating to the crime should be forwarded.
No Questioning By Police Now
Deputy Inspector General of Police, CID-Crime, Parikshita Rathod said, “They shall not be questioned by authorities at the moment. Further developments may evoke police action in the future.”
The incident has sparked discussions regarding illegal immigration and the risks people take to seek better livelihoods in foreign nations. Authorities are expected to assess the matter in the coming days.
