25 Transgender Hospitalized in Indore After Allegedly Consuming Phenyl

Transgender Community Horrible Act

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, after which they were taken to the government hospital, PTI reported, as per an official. “We got the information of a case of commotion at a house… DCP Zone-4 Anand Kaladgi informed journalists, as per the ANI news agency. Kaladgi added that senior officials had arrived at the spot immediately. “Some of the people had taken an unknown substance, and a few of them fell sick,” said the DCP, adding that ambulances were immediately summoned.

Dr. Basant Kumar Ningwal Statement

No one among the patients is in a critical state, the superintendent-in-charge of the government-owned Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, Dr. Basant Kumar Ningwal, informed. About 25 persons belonging to the transgender community were brought to our hospital. They have reported that they have all taken phenyl together,” Ningwal informed PTI news agency. Though, Ningwal further stated that taking phenyl could not be confirmed. “They have reported that they have taken phenyl together, but this cannot be confirmed immediately,” Ningwal reported.



Reason Behind the Consumption of Phenyl

The motive behind the mass act was not immediately clear, with Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya explaining that the motive and the substance taken would be known only after investigation. Only after investigation will it be understood as to what substance the people from the transgender community had taken and why,” Dandotiya stated. DCP Kaladgi stated that the 25 individuals are undergoing treatment and are stable, noting that their statements would be taken once they recover from their health condition. In the meantime, as per the PTI report, another police officer claimed that the incident could be a fallout from a conflict between two local factions of the transgender community.
