An official from the neighboring Vigyan Nagar police station said on Wednesday that a medical aspirant preparing for the NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) hanged herself.
The crime occurred on Tuesday night, according to Devesh Bhardwaj, an officer from the Vigyan Nagar police station, and the victim was named as 16-year-old Richa Singh. She was preparing for the all-India medical entrance exam at a hostel at the Electronic Complex in Kota, the officer said, adding that she was from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Previously, in August, Rajasthan Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas expressed worry over increased suicide rates among students at Kota coaching facilities, claiming that the tutorials are operated solely for profit.
Khachariyawas referred to these coaching centers as “Mafia,” and urged the Congress government to take strong action against them.
In a similar scenario, a 16-year-old student studying for the NEET for admission to undergraduate medical courses allegedly committed suicide on August 27 at his coaching institute in Kota, according to authorities. Avishkar from Maharashtra, the dead, jumped to his death from the sixth storey of the building housing the coaching center.
