Floods have wreaked havoc in Punjab, leaving 1,312 villages submerged or affected, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said on Sunday. The disaster has forced thousands out of their homes, triggering state-wide rescue and relief operations.
The worst-hit district is Gurdaspur, with 324 villages affected, followed by Kapurthala (123 villages). Other areas that have been badly affected are:

The minister emphasized that evacuations are still ongoing in low-lying and vulnerable pockets.
Currently, 122 relief camps are operational across the state, providing temporary shelter to 6,582 displaced residents. These camps are supplying food, water, and medical support to those affected.
Minister Mundian lauded the combined efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Indian Army, Punjab Police, and NGOs in carrying out relentless rescue and relief missions.

“The entire state machinery is working round-the-clock to protect lives and property,” Mundian said, appealing to citizens to stay alert and cooperate with the authorities. Officials have warned that with weather conditions still unstable, residents in flood-prone areas should remain cautious and follow advisories.
