A 13-year-old student was killed, with two others sustained injuries, after a car rammed into their motorcycle on the morning hours of Friday (August 15), Independence Day. As per reports, the accident was caused by a diversion made to facilitate the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s convoy’s speedy arrival for Independence Day Celebrations.
The accident happened near the VC House in the Airport police station area when the students were headed to Barkatullah Khan Stadium for the Independence Day event. As per reports, Lokendra Singh (13) died on the spot, with two other children sustaining injuries from the accident.
The family of the deceased has pointed the blame on the authorities for not preparing proper safety measures for the children. They alleged that children were called early in the morning for the event without proper safety measures in place.
The deceased’s sister, Komal, shared the horrifying story of how she saw her brother’s dead body lying on the street with the other two brothers also injured.
“When we reached the spot, my brother’s body was lying there. My two other brothers, Pradeep and Mahavir, were injured. The person with them said that a truck had hit them,” Komal told ETV Bharat.
DCP Amit Jain and ADCP Virendra Singh were quick to reach the place of the accident. Although the vehicle involved in the crash has not been identified yet, authorities have confirmed continued efforts to track the vehicle.
Hospital superintendent Vikas Rajpurohit informed that one of the students who had sustained minor injuries has been discharged, while the other was admitted to the MDM Hospital.
Shortly after the incident, the police officials worked together with the fire brigade to clean up the roads to make sure that the CM convoy could pass with no problem. The damaged bike was also removed from the scene of the incident, with proof of the same quickly gaining attention on social media.
The pictures of the incident and the cleanup by the police have sparked concerns regarding the value of civilian life over government officials. Angry citizens have been sharing their thoughts on the matter on social media, criticising the VVIP culture.
