11 NAIL ART TRENDS FOR SPRING & SUMMER 2022

Having come in late this year, the festival of Holi is a welcome respite from a long and harsh winter. This beautiful and vibrant festival has always signified buoyancy, youth, and fresh beginnings apart from the gorgeous colours it is known for. In fact, the spring and summer fashion season takes inspiration from this ancient festival by incorporating bright hues, whites offset with colours, and everything light and airy. You may be someone who follows the fashion weeks for sartorial ideas, but are you aware of what is trending in the nail art space? Fret not. The Daily Guardian spoke to Gurpreet Seble, renowned nail expert and owner of popular nail spas located in Gurugram, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and pan-India through collaborations, under the brand Nail Spa by Gurpreet (NSG). Together we rounded up the best nail art trends to watch for in spring and summer 2022.

Gurpreet Seble

Seble is an educator and nail expert trained in America. She entered the artificial nail industry in 2004 to educate, and help with the upskilling and employment of local youth. She has initiated nail technician courses both for trainees and advanced learning as per international standards in four academies located in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.

Seble has also written the National Standard for Nail Education in India under the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council, a wing of the National Skill Development Corporation and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India. This upskilling followed by guaranteed employment has been taking place for 18 years. She has so far trained 7000 students who are employed in the nail industry across the nation. Her passion to provide financial independence to the uneducated and underprivileged strata of society has fuelled her growth thus far. Her training institutes encourage women empowerment by creating financial opportunities for them.

“Nails are the fastest-growing category in the beauty industry. The demand outweighs the supply, hence there is an immense need for international nail academies like NSG to fuel the growth. Skilling and employment is our major focus, and now jobs are available nationwide for all NSG graduates. International placements are also available for those who qualify. We also help with nail bar setups pan-India by providing training, technicians, products, PR material and conducting business management workshops. A small investment on people’s part can get big returns,” explains Seble.

Nail Spa by Gurpreet offers the latest Artificial Nail Technology from the birthplace of Artificial Nails in USA. They keep up with global trends and techniques through their direct association with North American research and development. Seble says, “Our first and foremost passion and objective in India is to educate and the results are there for everyone to see NSG trained instructors and technicians have laid the benchmark for high quality. They are at par with their counterparts in USA and Canada. Our training is based on North American Standards and Certification, which is recognised worldwide. This is why we urge people to come and enjoy our services or our personal training sessions. We always welcome feedback and suggestions and look forward to meeting you in person. At NSG, you will experience the difference.”

Seble outlines the top 11 nail art trends to watch for in Spring/Summer 2022:

• Spring and summer is the time to play with nail colours of various types. Choose anything from beige hues, pastel blues to powdery pinks.

• When you want to liven things up for a party, you must try shades of bright yellow, or pink and purple colours. These can be worn plain or topped with nail art, which is apt for all seasons like graffiti foils, chromes, Swarovski crystals, or 3D designs.

• The biggest trend at the moment in nail art is playing with pigment powders, marble tints, and /or abstract and geometrical designs. We have seen that these are particularly popular with a younger crowd.

• Clients love to play with all kinds of different colours on their nails around the festival of Holi. The biggest trend at this time is to colour each of their nails in different colours.

• Kooky French manicures are also coming back in style but we are not referring to simple white tips here. The nail tips can be red, black or any colour of your choice!

• Using pigments to create the magic of ombre to enhance the artistic look.

• Using reflective glitters that make the nails shine brilliantly.

• 3D, 4D, and 5D gels to add exquisite life-like flowers on nails.

• Ink and tints to add a marbling effect.

• Mirror chromes, mermaid chromes, laser chromes and holographic looks are here to stay.

• Using galaxy mylars that look like real gems. They shine like Swarovski crystals but stay for a week.
