100 Years of RSS: PM Modi Lauds Sangh’s contribution, Calls it World’s Largest NGO

While the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrates completion of its hundred years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, in his Independence Day Speech, rendered warm tribute to the Sangh’s legacy that has stood the test of time, commending its unflinching dedication to service to the nation and its impactful contribution towards shaping India’s destiny. PM Modi called Sangh World’s largest NGO, 

Legacy of Dedication

PM Modi,  called the RSS a “pillar of service” to Maa Bharati, highlighting the uncompromising determination and dedication of its volunteers along a shining 100-year trajectory. He greeted all Sangh, adding, “This determination and devotion will make every generation zealous and introduce new energy in the quest for Viksit Bharat,” the government’s plan for a developed India by 2047.

Grassroots Impact and National Spirit

PM Modi said, “Today, I want to mention something with pride. One hundred years ago today, an organization was born, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). For 100 years, it has served the nation. With the resolve of nation-building through individual development and the goal of the welfare of Mother India for 100 years, the members of the Sangh have dedicated their lives to the well-being of the motherland. The RSS is the world’s largest NGO. For 100 years, it has played a significant role in the nation’s journey.” PM mentioned how Sangh has been working tirelessly towards nation building through individual development. 

He also praised the work of the RSS in crisis situations, particularly their contribution towards the battle for the restoration of democracy during the Emergency and their grass-roots activities that continue to influence India’s socio-cultural evolution. Modi noted that the Sangh network, now extended all over India and even overseas, is a reflection on the strength of national consciousness.

Cultural and Spiritual Resilience

Prime Minister Modi appreciated the Sangh’s initiative in restoring pride in the youth towards their traditions, culture, and Sanatan values by pointing towards the ability of the organisation to survive and thrive in contemporary India. Modi said, “Our youths risk-taking ability has gone up, innovating new things and leaving a global impression. They are proud of their culture and traditions.”

Looking Ahead: Building a Stronger India

Modi has earlier asserted that the next 25 years, as India approaches its own centenary of independence in 2047, are crucial for laying the foundation for the country’s future. “2025 to 2047 is important because big goals are ahead of us. We must build a stronger, more united India, drawing inspiration from the Sangh’s century of sacrifice and service”.

The RSS centenary, as celebrated by PM Modi, is both a celebration and a beckoning to higher national resolve, a milestone moment in the history of an organisation that has played a key role in fostering social harmony, cultural pride, and the vision of a developed India.
