On Tuesday, India recently supplied a fresh consignment of relief materials, containing 40 tonnes of medicines and other supplies, to the flood-affected people of Kenya, who are reeling under devastating floods that have already claimed the lives of at least 267 people.

In a military transport aircraft, these consignments were sent as part of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to the African nation.

Taking to X, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar disclosed that these consignments constitute the second batch sent to the people of Kenya. “The second tranche of HADR material containing 40 tonnes of medicines, medical supplies and other equipment to assist flood victims leaves for Kenya. Standing up for a historical partnership, a Vishwa Bandhu to the world.”

In addition, he also shared images.

In his tweet, Dr. Jaishankar further emphasized India’s commitment to stand with Kenya during these difficult times, referencing earlier assistance as a testament to the longstanding partnership between the two nations.

Earlier, the first batch of relief materials were delivered to the country last week.

This initiative is part of India’s continued efforts to assist countries affected by natural disasters and emergencies.

For instance, the Indian naval ship INS Sumedha was the first responder in the Indian Ocean region, successfully delivering food, relief, and medical supplies to Kenya to aid flood victims.

The swift action taken by India and the rapid provision of essential aid reflect the country’s commitment to developing strong relationships and providing practical support to countries in their time of need.
