In a major relief, India reported 25,166 new Covid infection cases on Tuesday, the lowest figure in last 154 days, while nearly 50 lakh doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
According to data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the recent dip in fresh cases has further decreased country’s active caseload to lowest in 146 days (369,846). Less than 50,000 daily new cases have been coming in since 51 consecutive days. Active cases now constitute only 1.15% of the country’s total positive cases which is the lowest since March 2020, the data further read.
It is pertinent to note here that barely 10 days back, the number for daily fresh cases was above 44,000, refreshing the horrific memories of the disastrous second Covid wave, which completely overwhelmed the nation’s medical healthcare infrastructure. “Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.98% remains less than 3% for last 53 days now. The Daily Positivity rate also stands at 1.61%. Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for last 22 days and below 5% for 71 consecutive days now,” the statement from the Health Ministry added.
