According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday, India recorded 2,139 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,18,533, while active cases fell to 26,292. The death toll has risen to 5,28,835 with 13 fatalities, including four deaths reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.
According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.06 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.76 percent.
In the past 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 1,082 cases.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.81 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 1.13 percent.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,40,63,406, with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent.
So far, 219.09 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country as part of the nationwide vaccination drive, according to the ministry.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.
Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four-billion-dollar mark.
Four new fatalities have been reported in Maharashtra and two in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.
