India records 18k new Covid cases, lowest daily rise in nearly six months

India reported 18,574 new Covid-19 infections, taking the total count to 10,188,392. The death toll mounted to 147,659 with 280 new fatalities. Total discharged cases stand at 9,760,848. 

 Looking at the individual tally of some worst-affected states due to coronavirus The Covid-19 tally in Maharashtra rose to 19,19,550 with the addition of 3,314 fresh infections. With 66 more people succumbing to the viral disease, the overall death toll in the state mounted to 49,255. A total of 2,124 patients have been discharged, taking the number of recoveries to 18,09,948. The state has 59,214 active cases.  Delhi recorded as many as 757 fresh coronavirus cases. With this, the tally of Covid-19 cases in the state has reached over 6.22 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 10,453. Sixteen fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours. The case tally stands at 6,22,851 in the national capital, including 6,05,685 patients who have either been discharged, migrated or recovered. The number of active cases is 6,713, of which 3,335 are in home isolation.

 The neighbouring state of Haryana reported a low count of 362 new coronavirus cases, and nine deaths in the last twenty-four hours. Now the state has total 26,09,07 cases, 2,874 deaths, and 2,53,765 recoveries till date.

 Uttar Pradesh witnessed 13 more people succumbing to Covid-19 infection, the death count rose to 8,306. The number of total cases touched 5,81,980 with 959 more people found positive for the infection. In the past 24 hours, 1,391 patients recovered from the viral disease and have been discharged.

 Odisha’s coronavirus tally mounted to 3,28,504 after 303 more people tested positive for the infection, while four more fatalities pushed the toll to 1,861. The state currently has 2,841 active cases, while as many as 3,23,749 people have recovered from the infectious disease.  Tamil Nadu added 1,009 fresh infections to its coronavirus tally, taking the total count to 8.14 lakh, while 10 more fatalities pushed the toll to 12,069. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases with 1,091 people getting cured, taking the aggregate to 7,93,154. The number of active cases stands at 8,947.
