India has recorded 30,44,940 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 56,706 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have reported the highest number of cases. However, coronavirus cases are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 74.9 percent.
The national capital recorded 1,450 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike in August, taking the infection tally to over 1.61 lakh, while the number of deaths mounted to 4,300. Sixteen fresh fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra reported 10,441 new coronavirus positive cases in the last twenty four hours, which pushed the cumulative count in the state to 6,82,383. With the death of 258 patients during the day, the toll reached 22,253. As many as 8,157 patients were discharged after recovery, which took the number of recovered persons to 4,88,271 so far. There are 1,71,542 active Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra at present.
Looking at the tallies of south states, Tamil Nadu reported 5,975 new Covid-19 cases, 6,047 recoveries and 97 deaths in the last twentyfour years, taking total cases to 3,79,385 including 3,19,327 discharges and 6,517 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 53,541.
Karnataka reported 5,938 fresh coronavirus cases, 4,996 discharges and 68 deaths in the last twentyfour hours, taking total cases to 2,77,814 including 1,89,564 discharges and 4,683 deaths.
Kerala reported 1,908 new Covid-19 cases and 1,110 recoveries in the last twenty four hours, taking active cases to 20,330 and recoveries to 37,649. While Gujarat reported an addition of 1,101 new coronavirus positive cases, Gujarat›s Covid-19 count climbed to 86,779. The death toll in the state reached 2,897 as 14 patients succumbed to the infection during the day. 972 patients were discharged from various hospitals, the total number of recovered cases in the state rose to 69,229.
In Uttar Pradesh Fiftynine people succumbed to coronavirus as 5,423 fresh coronavirus cases surfaced, pushing the state›s infection count to 1,87,781. So far, 2,926 people have died from the disease in the state. The fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent in India’s largest populous state.
Punjab reported 1,136 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 41,779 including 14,165 active cases, 26,528 recovered cases & 1,086 deaths so far.
Haryana registered another spike of 1,096 coronavirus cases as the fatality count reached 603 with six more deaths. So far, 54,386 people have contracted the infection. The state has 8,961 active cases as of now, while 44,822 have been discharged after recovery. The state has a fatality rate of 1.11 per cent.
Jammu and Kashmir reported 666 new Covid-19 cases, 434 recoveries and 9 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 32,647, including 24,832 recoveries and 617 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 7,198.
