The grand finale of India Couture Week 2024 was a display of sophistication and glamour. On July 31 in Delhi, Bollywood stars Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna stole the spotlight as showstoppers for designers Falguni Shane Peacock. The final day of this major fashion event showcased the charm of traditional Indian craftsmanship blended with contemporary styles. A notable feature was the collaboration between Falguni Shane Peacock and Swadesh, which produced a stunning fusion dress collection that captivated the audience.

Speaking about this special collaboration, designer Falguni said, “You know, it was a very impromptu thing. We asked Mrs. Ambani that, you know, we want to create a unique collection with Swadesh. What do you think? She was like, yes, absolutely. And we created some amazing Kanjivarams and Banarasi brocade. And, you know, we’ve woven our monogram in it and given it a sort of a limited edition look, which is one of a kind,” she said.

Talking about the inspiration from India’s rich culture, the designer said, “I think India has so much inspiration, you just keep on getting inspired and it’s so nice to have so much to look around and get inspired.” As the week-long fashion extravaganza came to a close, Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna dazzled the audience with their flawless appearances. Falguni Shane Peacock, marking two decades of transforming Indian couture, presented their latest collection, ‘Rang Mahal,’ as the event’s centrepiece. This collection offered a vivid tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage and architectural magnificence.

The evening was further energised by a live concert featuring modern renditions of popular Bollywood songs, adding a vibrant musical touch to the runway show. The bridal collection segment was especially captivating, with models showcasing designs to live performances of hits like ‘Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera’ from ‘Swades,’ as well as ‘Mast Magan,’ ‘Tere Hawale,’ and ‘Peer Vi Tu.’ Rashmika and Vicky, as showstoppers, walked the runway to the evocative melodies of ‘Tere Bina’ from ‘Guru’ and ‘Ve Haaniya,’ delivering a memorable conclusion to the couture week.

India Couture Week 2024, which kicked off on July 24, was a showcase of both veteran and emerging designers. The event featured renowned designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, with stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Taha Shah Badussha as showstoppers.

Wamiqa Gabbi opened the show in an ivory lehenga from the ‘Botanical Bloom’ line, adorned with detailed Resham embroidery. She closed the event in a striking red lehenga from the ‘Bridal Gota’ collection, which featured elaborate Gota, Zardozi, and crystal embellishments. The week culminated with Falguni Shane Peacock’s stunning collection, which beautifully blended traditional Indian couture with modern design elements.
