There is a common saying in politics, “Beneath the table lies the serpent”. On Monday, a four-feet-long, highly venomous snake, said to be a rare species of Cobra was found in the parking of ex-Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo Uddhav Thackeray’s residence, Matoshree in Kala Nagar, Bandra.
Sensation prevailed after security personnel noticed the presence of the King Cobra at Matoshree, and snake charmers were called to catch the highly venomous snake which was in “an angry mood,” said the head of the rescue team.
A team led by Atul Kamble and Roshan of a wildlife protection and rescue group, as well as the Snake Charmers Association caught the King Cobra after which everyone let out a sigh of relief.
After being informed about the rare snake spotting in Matoshree, Uddhav Thackeray, who is a wildlife enthusiast, along with his son Tejas came out and watched while the rescue took place.
The snake, which is known for its potentially lethal bite, was handed over to the Forest Department by the charmers and was later released into the wild.
