Mumbai’s air quality stayed in the “Moderate” category on Wednesday. The data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India showed that the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was 149 at noon. The city’s air quality dropped to “poor” and “very poor” in many places. At seven in the morning, the state pollution control meter at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) indicated that the air quality in Mumbai was “very poor.” The declining air quality also prompted the CST area to issue a health alert.

The air quality index varied in different areas of Mumbai. In the Bandra Kurla Complex, the air quality was recorded in a ‘moderate’ category, with an AQI of 200 at 9 am. Meanwhile, Colaba and Borivali East reported ‘moderate’ air quality with an AQI of 151 and 141, respectively.
