According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi experienced its coldest May in 36 years in May, with excessive rain lowering the average maximum temperature to 36.8 degrees Celsius this time. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate intensity rain throughout the entirety of Delhi and the surrounding areas, rain began to fall in several portions of the city in the early hours of Wednesday. A city resident claimed that they had never experienced this kind of weather earlier in May.
“Climate change is to blame for this. I’ve never experienced weather like this before. We are currently pondering if it will rain in July and August, according to local Bhushan Narula.
Another person said that global warming is to blame for the weather change. IMD reports that just nine days in May in Delhi saw maximum temperatures rise above 40 degrees, with two of those days seeing heatwave conditions in some parts of the capital.
