Xiaomi launches affordable Redmi 9A in India
New Delhi: Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Wednesday launched a new budget smartphone Redmi 9A at a starting price of Rs 6,799 (2GB+32GB) variant in India. The 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage variant will cost Rs 7,499. “Redmi 9A aims to uphold the legacy set by its predecessors and does so by bringing a high-quality media experience with the HD+ LCD IPS display with a dot-notch. This is a major upgrade over competition devices in the price segment,” Sneha Tainwala, Redmi Business Lead, Mi India, said in a statement. The smartphone will be available in three colour variants from 4 September. The 6.53-inch device comes with ‘TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light’ certification, allowing better visibility in reading mode. It is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio G25 chipset coupled with up to 3GB RAM and a dedicated microSD card slot allowing expansion up to 512GB. Redmi 9A comes with a 13MP AI camera on the rear with features such as AI Portrait mode, AI scene detection. It also comes with a 5MP AI selfie camera with AI portrait mode.
Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold2, its 3rd foldable device
New Delhi: Samsung on Tuesday introduced its third foldable device called Galaxy Z Fold2 that sports a 6.2-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main screen when unfolded. Galaxy Z Fold2 will be available in two memory variants — 12GB RAM+512GB and 12GB RAM+256GB internal storage — beginning with select markets at a starting price of $1,999. The device in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colours will be available in around 40 markets on 18 September while pre-orders have begun from 1 September. It is Samsung’s third foldable smartphone after Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. It has a 10MP selfie camera and the rear camera system has three sensors — a 12MP Ultra Wide camera, a 12MP Wide-Angle camera and a 12MP Telephoto Camera along with up to 10X zoom.
Enter Lenovo’s ‘Smart Clock Essential’
New Delhi: Lenovo has launched a new Google Assistant-powered alarm clock called the Smart Clock Essential as an update to its Smart Clock. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential starts at $49, which is the same price as the Nest Mini without a clock, and $10 less than the Dot with Clock in the US. “The alarm clock supports using buttons to set the alarm, in addition to voice. It’s also a useful nighttime companion with a built-in light that helps you walk around without bumping into things and has an integrated USB port so you can charge your devices overnight,” the company said. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential features what looks like an LED display that shows information such as time, day, temperature, and whether the user has an alarm set. In addition, one can now use buttons to set an alarm, in addition to voice. A user can also group the Smart Clock Essential with other compatible smart speakers for a more immersive listening experience.
Get ready for Polaroid’s Hi-Print mobile printer
Massachusetts: Polaroid has announced the launch of its new Hi-Print mobile printer that can turn pictures into stickers. According to Mashable, the mobile printer is available on Polaroid’s website for $99.99 with a 20-sheet printer cartridge costing $16.99 separately. One can also spend $129.99 for a starter set that comes with the printer and 40 sheets of paper. Other retailers, like Best Buy and Amazon, will be put it on sale on September 10. As per Polaroid, the printing from the Hi-Print should be pretty simple. The user need connect to it via Bluetooth, choose and customise (with filters and text) what one wants to print in an accompa- nying iOS or Android app and get the sticker printed. The im- ages come out in the form of 2.3-inch by 3.4-inch wallet-friendly photos, but with adhesive backs, so people can stick them wherever one wants.
