Following a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) escalated its warnings on September 28 by issuing an orange alert for the Konkan region from September 28 to September 30. The updated forecast from IMD indicates that the Konkan region, with a focus on Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra, is bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall, expected to range between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm over the next three days. Additionally, the IMD has also extended a yellow alert for districts like Raigarh, Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur, signaling heavy rainfall. Among the significant updates, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Mumbai has issued an alert warning of thunderstorms approaching from the east towards Mumbai. These storms are expected to bring lightning, gusty winds, and moderate to short intense spells of rainfall. The forecasted rainfall is expected to affect Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar in the next 2-3 hours.
