IMD Forecasts Light To Moderate Rain For Northeast India

The weather agency Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate monsoon for the northeast and eastern areas of the country for the next couple of hours on Friday.

The places where moderate to light monsoon is going to occur in Sikkim and other surrounding areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam, and Meghalaya.

Furthermore, the IMD has also warned about thunderstorms with lighting in the further part of northeast Bihar for upcoming three hours.

Taking to X, the IMD said, ‘Light to moderate rainfall at most places with occasional intense spells of rainfall is very likely to continue over Sikkim & adjoining areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam and Meghalaya and light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning also likely over extreme northeast Bihar during next 3 hours.’

Meanwhile, yesterday on Thursday, IMD forecasts, that heavy rainfall is going to continue at Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India for the next 4-5 days, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall.

As for other places in India, the southwest rain has already arrived in maharashtra, in places like Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur. In contrast, IMD has predicted  heatwave in north India for coming 4-5 days.
