On Monday, the Damoh municipality, in partnership with the district government, demolished unlawful slaughterhouses in the Kasai Mandi area, which is under the Damoh Kotwali police station. The decision to take action against these constructions came after Damoh municipality’s legal proceedings established their illegality.

The initiative was prompted by concerns raised by some Hindu organizations, which recently submitted a memorandum alleging that cows were being slaughtered in the Kasai Mandi area. Additionally, the complaint highlighted the presence of an illegally operated bone warehouse in the vicinity.

Upon receiving the complaint, the district administration and the municipality swiftly conducted an inspection, revealing the existence of unauthorized construction, including the illicit bone warehouse. Damoh Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sandeep Mishra disclosed that legal proceedings led by the municipality facilitated the demolition of the illegal slaughterhouses.

ASP Mishra further added that the dismantling process was initiated peacefully, with the joint team from the district administration and the municipality overseeing the operation. Approximately 60 police personnel were present on-site to ensure the orderly execution of the action.

In response to these developments, the police have heightened vigilance in the area to curb any potential resurgence of illegal activities. Continuous patrolling efforts are underway to crack down on businesses operating unlawfully, emphasizing the commitment of the authorities to maintain law and order in Damoh district.
