The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Shri V. K. Birdi-IPS, chaired comprehensive security review meetings in Shopian and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir. Accompanied by DIG South Kashmir, Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the meetings aimed at evaluating the security landscape and devising strategies to address emerging challenges.
In attendance at the Shopian meeting were SP Shopian, Ms. Tanushree, Addl. SP Shopian, Shri Naresh Singh, and other senior officers. Similarly, the Pulwama meeting saw the participation of SSP Pulwama, Shri Mohammad Yousif, Addl. SP Pulwama, Shri Tanveer Ahmad, and other key officers from the district.
During these sessions, officers provided an overview of the initiatives taken in their respective districts to counter challenges posed by inimical elements. The IGP Kashmir emphasized the need to strengthen the anti-terrorist grid through enhanced intelligence efforts and intensified operations. Officers were urged to maintain vigilant surveillance over terrorist associates, employing decisive legal measures to counter any threats effectively.
Highlighting the crucial importance of securing vital establishments and locations, the IGP Kashmir underscored the need to protect vulnerable individuals from potential terrorist designs. Strict surveillance over terrorist associates and Actionable Network Elements (ANEs) was stressed, with a directive to take all necessary legal measures against them.
Addressing the pervasive issue of the drug menace, the IGP Kashmir called for a focused initiative against drugs. He directed personal supervision of narcotics cases, emphasized the improvement of conviction rates, and advocated for building robust police-public relationships, particularly with the youth. Regular interactive meetings with the general public, especially the youth, were encouraged to curb the drug menace and strengthen the police-public interface.
The IGP Kashmir also highlighted the need to address social media misuse for inciting violence, emphasizing stringent measures against such misuse. He stressed the importance of maintaining close synergy between the police and other forces to ensure a peaceful environment. The IGP Kashmir concluded by urging officers to develop mechanisms that strengthen the bond between the police and the community.
