Mumbai Airport and Juhu Airport are scheduled to temporarily halt flight operations for an hour in the afternoon on January 12, 13, and 14, facilitating Indian Air Force (IAF) air exercises over Marine Drive during this period.
A notice issued to airlines, pilots, and stakeholders by the air traffic control has informed that the airspace below 12,000 feet over Mumbai will be closed to civilian flights. Consequently, both airports will remain closed from 12 pm to 1 pm on the specified dates.
During this time frame, no flights will be allowed to land or take off in Mumbai. However, flights will continue to traverse the Mumbai airspace at altitudes above 12,000 feet. Airlines were provided with advance notice of this closure, ensuring that no flight operations will be adversely affected, according to an airport official.
It’s worth noting that Juhu Airport, India’s busiest helipad primarily engaged in offshore operations, will not be affected, as it does not host any airline flights.
