In the heart of the national capital, a tale of courage unfolded as a young woman from Chhattisgarh, lured by the promise of a salon job, found herself trapped in the clutches of a sex racket. Her bravery led to the unraveling of a sinister operation run by Y. Prem Chandra Meetei, known as Amit, who was finally apprehended by the diligent South West District Police team.
The ordeal began with a deceptive online advertisement, which promised lucrative jobs to women. The accused, Amit, a man with an educational background in science and business, exploited his victims’ aspirations, detaining them in a Vasant Kunj apartment, only to force them into the dark world of prostitution.
The breakthrough came when the woman from Chhattisgarh, upon realising the grim reality, made a daring escape and alerted the authorities. Her actions not only saved her but also brought to light the plight of others like her, including a young woman from Assam, who corroborated the chilling operations of the racket.
According to the police, the victims’ testimonies led to the recovery of incriminating evidence, including mobile phones and a laptop, which were instrumental in piecing together the modus operandi of the accused.
