The fourth installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise is set to hit theaters on March 19, 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount Pictures had been targeting a spring 2027 release for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the latest addition to the movie series inspired by the popular Sega video game.

This announcement follows the record-breaking success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which recently became the franchise’s highest-grossing film, earning over $422 million at the global box office. The third movie, featuring Keanu Reeves as Shadow, contributed significantly to the Sonic series surpassing the $1 billion mark in total box office earnings to date.

Details about the plot, writer, or director for the fourth film have yet to be revealed. Jeff Fowler, who directed the first three Sonic movies, helmed the third film based on a script by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 saw Ben Schwartz reprising his role as the voice of Sonic, with Jim Carrey taking on a dual role as Dr. Robotnik and the villain’s grandfather. The cast also included Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter. Additional voice roles were performed by Keanu Reeves (Shadow the Hedgehog), Idris Elba (Knuckles), and Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Tails), as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
