Scarlett Johansson wants Marvel fans to accept the truth—Black Widow is gone for good. In Avengers: Endgame (2019), Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself. Later, Johansson returned for the 2021 prequel Black Widow. However, that was her final Marvel film.
Now, she urges fans to let go.
“Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. Okay? They just don’t want to believe it. They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’ Look, I think the balance of the entire universe is held in her hand. We’re going to have to let her go. She saved the world. Let her have her hero moment,” Johansson told InStyle magazine.
Shifting to a New Franchise
Now, Johansson focuses on a different blockbuster. She will star in Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the Jurassic World series.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures recently asked her to join Instagram to promote the film. However, she refused.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal, and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ I get a lot of pressure to join social media. … Is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could.”
Why She Avoids Social Media
Johansson values authenticity. Therefore, she chooses to stay off social media.
“The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient. So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine,” she added.
Release Date and Cast
Jurassic World Rebirth will hit theaters on July 2. Johansson stars alongside Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey.
