Nikki Glaser Reveals Pay Disparity with Former Male Host at Golden Globes: ‘I Honestly Would’ve Done It for Free’

Nikki Glaser hosted the Golden Globe Awards this week and later disclosed on *The Howard Stern Show* that although she felt adequately compensated, she received less than a previous male host of the event.

What Nikki Said

“I feel well-compensated for what I do. I think I’m okay. And in this initial year, when you’re simply trying to prove your worth, I genuinely would’ve done it for nothing. It’s an extraordinary platform to be part of. For me, it’s not about the money. When people mention, ‘You work so hard,’ I respond, ‘Who wouldn’t? ’ I don’t get it. I’ve certainly participated in some activities where I haven’t put in much effort, but the stakes have never been as high,” she stated.

She continued, “There was a previous host who disclosed how much he earned in his monologue, and I received less than that, but that’s fine. I’ll receive more next year. ”

Speculation indicates Nikki has entered into a three-year agreement with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to keep hosting the Golden Globes, although she mentioned this hasn’t been “formally” verified. She recognized having heard conversations and conveyed confidence in being invited back, noting that significant hosting opportunities like this are tough to come by.

Which Male Host Is She Referring To?

The male host in question might be Jerrod Carmichael, who disclosed during his 2023 Golden Globes monologue that he was compensated $500,000 for the position. Jerrod also mentioned that he faced a “moral, racial dilemma” regarding accepting the hosting invitation due to the HFPA’s contentious history but ultimately consented after the substantial financial proposal.

Audience and Reception

This year’s Golden Globes broadcast averaged 9. 3 million viewers, a 2% drop in comparison to last year. Nikki succeeded Jo Koy, whose hosting performance last year received unfavorable reviews.
