International music sensation Ed Sheeran, currently in India for his Mathematics tour, recently tried playing the sitar for the first time. On 7 February, Ed shared a video of himself playing the traditional Indian instrument on Instagram, leaving fans in awe.
‘Shape of You’ on Sitar
In the video, Sheeran can be seen sitting cross-legged alongside sitar player Megha Rawoot, who guided him through the learning process. The British singer gracefully played his 2017 chartbuster ‘Shape of You’ on the sitar while also singing along with Megha. Dressed casually in a black T-shirt and olive-green pants, Sheeran appeared completely immersed in the experience.

Sharing the clip with his followers, he captioned it, “Played sitar today for the first time, had a great teacher @megharawoot.”

Sheeran’s India tour kicked off in Pune on January 30, and he has been making the most of his time in the country. On Wednesday, he performed in Chennai alongside legendary composer AR Rahman. The duo thrilled the audience with a fusion of ‘Shape of You’ and Rahman’s iconic track ‘Urvasi.’ Expressing his gratitude after the performance, Sheeran took to Instagram, writing, “What an honor @arrahman.”
The Mathematics tour will conclude on February 15, with his final performance set to take place in Delhi-NCR.
