BLACKPINK member Lisa is set to make history as the first-ever K-pop artist to perform at the 97th Academy Awards. The Academy announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that rapper Doja Cat and singer RAYE will also take the stage alongside her.

The Academy shared a short video featuring the performers, captioning it:

Lisa will perform her latest song, Born Again, marking its first-ever live performance. Doja Cat and RAYE, who are featured on the track, will join her. Born Again was pre-released on February 7 as part of Lisa’s upcoming debut full-length album, ALTER EGO. Other performances will include Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, along with a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
When and Where to Watch the Oscars
The Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC, starting at 7 PM Eastern / 4 PM Pacific. For global viewers, the event will air at 5:30 AM IST on Tuesday, March 2. The ceremony will take place at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
For the first time, the Oscars will be streamed live on Hulu. Viewers can also watch via Hulu Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.
Conan O’Brien to Host the Oscars
This year’s Academy Awards will be hosted by Conan O’Brien, marking his first time leading the event. Upon the announcement, he humorously stated:
“America demanded it, and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.”
Impact of Los Angeles Wildfires on the Ceremony
The recent wildfires that ravaged parts of Los Angeles in early January led to speculation about whether the Oscars would be canceled. Although the Academy twice delayed the announcement of nominations, the ceremony’s March 2 date remained unchanged.
Organizers emphasized the significance of moving forward with the event, citing its economic impact and symbolic importance. They assured that this year’s awards would recognize not only cinematic achievements but also honor those who bravely fought against the wildfires.
However, the disaster has affected the usual festivities of Hollywood’s awards season. The Academy even canceled its annual nominees’ luncheon as part of the adjustments.
