It was last night that the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton. It was the first night of the 2025 awards season, and there was no dearth of film and television stars who walked the red carpet as comedian Nikki Glaser was set to host the event.
Another striking guest was Angelina Jolie, the talented actress who is making a Golden Globe return after a few years. She had her 19-year-old daughter, Zahara Marley Jolie, accompanying her as a date. It was a day of radiating mother-daughter beauty on the red carpet where Angelina put on a half-sheer metallic gown shining with her style and timeless charm, while 19-year-old Zahara showed off in her white dress replete with embroidery of a tree design in black.
Angelina, nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal of opera legend Maria Callas in ‘Maria’, posed with Zahara as the photographers snapped away at the event. This marked an important moment in Angelina’s career as she returned to the awards circuit, having received acclaim for her portrayal of Callas. Her performance has been well-received at several film festivals.
This also marked a professional achievement for the actress, who has earlier on taken home Golden Globes for her acting skills in ‘George Wallace’ (Best Supporting Actress – Television, 1998), ‘Gia’ (Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film, 1999), and *Girl, Interrupted* (Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture, 2000).
It was quite the night filled with A-list celebrities: Cynthia Erivo, Cate Blanchett, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Glen Powell, and Colman Domingo. Live-streamed from CBS and Paramount+, the awarding of excellence in films and TV streamed into every living room as the awards went live also on Lionsgate Play in India.
Besides the prime event, an event known as Golden Gala occurred a bit earlier and presented prestigious awards: the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award. The former honored Viola Davis for outstanding lifetime contributions to entertainment, and Ted Danson for significant entertainment career achievement, where the Carol Burnett Award was involved.
