HIMACHAL RECEIVES ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN AND SNOW

Himachal Pradesh experienced yet another spell of snowfall in its higher reaches and tribal areas, while moderate to heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the state on Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department. Kadhrala received the highest amount of snowfall with 22 cm, while Kufri and Sangla recorded 2 cm and 1 cm respectively.
The state’s wettest area was Pachhad with 94 mm of rainfall, followed by Solan with 63 mm, Sangraha with 55 mm, and Renuka with 54 mm. The Meteorological Department also reported that several other regions had received significant rainfall, including Jatton Barrage, Rajgarh, Dharmshala, Saloni, Kufri, Sarahan, Karsog, Kotkhai, Rohru, Kandaghat, Mashobra, Shimla, Rampur, Arki, Chaupal, Kumarsain, Nahan, Wangto, Jubbarhatti, Sundernagar, Gohar, Janjheli, Kheri, and Bijahi.
The local MeT office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms in isolated areas of low and mid hills on March 24, and thunderstorms and lightning on March 23 and 25. The MeT office has also predicted a wet spell in the region until March 27.
The coldest temperature recorded during the night was in Keylong with a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, while Una recorded the highest temperature during the day at 26.4 degrees Celsius.
The state is facing several road closures, with a total of 24 roads being shut for vehicular traffic, including 15 in Lahaul and Spiti, three each in Chamba and Kullu, two in Kangra, and one in Shimla district, all of which are in remote areas. Additionally, 37 transformers and five water schemes have been disrupted.
Although the state has experienced a rainfall deficit of 70 percent from March 1 to 21, this has now reduced to 57 percent on Tuesday as the state received 34.7 mm of rain, which is lower than the normal rainfall of 79.9 mm.
