The medicines of Himachal Pradesh have once again failed to meet the standards of drug safety.

Out of 27 samples taken from across the country by the Central Drugs Standard Controller Organization, eight of them made in Himachal have been found to be sub-standard, including those of diabetes, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, and blood pressure.

According to sources, in the Morpin Lab located in Makhnu Majra, Baddi, samples of calcium medicine Calequick, Lodhi Majra, and diarrhoea medicine Armidazole made in Baddi’s Navkar Life Science Company have failed.

Similarly, samples of sugar medicine Glimepiride made in Baddi, Paracetamol medicine of fever medicine of Max Relief Health Care Company located at Aanji, Solan have also failed. Paracetamol, the fever medicine of Edwin Pharma at Kala Amb, the allergy medicine of Shriram Health Care, Jhadmajri, Baddi, Montilokast sodium, and Levocetirizine has also been found to be failed. Samples of the acidity drug Ameprazole of Medipol Company in Bhud, Baddi and Primaquin, the malaria drug of Allgen Health Care, Khari, Kala Amb, have also failed.

State Drug Controller Navneet Marwah said: “Notices are being issued to the companies whose medicines have failed to meet the standards and instructions have been given to lift the batch from the market. Licences of the drugs found failed will also be cancelled.”

People are worried that pharmaceutical companies are playing with their health.

Medicines available at high prices are also not up to the standards.
