Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has announced that the Congress government will fulfill all its election promises in a phased manner within the next four years and bring the economy back on track. The announcement was made during a session of the state assembly on Thursday.
Responding to a question from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the Congress party’s promise to provide 300 units of free electricity, Sukhu assured that all guarantees were given after deep thought and would be implemented within four years. He added that the facility of 125 units of free electricity provided by the previous BJP government is continuing and that the Congress government has already allocated Rs 300 crore towards it in the past 100 days.
The chief minister also revealed that the expansion of the Kangra (Gaggal) airport would cost Rs 10,000 crore, with Rs 2,000 crore being spent on land acquisition. He emphasized that the airport’s expansion is crucial from both national security and tourism perspectives. The government has conducted a social impact assessment report and will hold a public hearing on April 10 and 11.
A policy will also be brought to rehabilitate affected people. Education Minister Rohit Thakur responded to a question from the BJP’s Reena Kashyap, stating that out of 49 sanctioned posts of principals in government senior secondary schools in the Pachhad constituency, 15 are vacant, but the government will attempt to fill all positions within the next 15 days.
