Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of State for MEA, provided an update on the schedule planned for the spouses of the world leaders prior to the G20 Summit. During their stay in Delhi, she said, India would show off its illustrious past and its scientific prowess.
Meenakashi Lekhi, a minister of state for external affairs, stated: “They (spouses of G-20 leaders) will visit the G20 Summit on September 9th. They will see some of the best laboratories as well as meet women farmers. The traditional food we eat, millet, will be their first experience. The oldest chariot in the world will be on display at an exhibition called “Roots to Roots” in the second half. Few people, according to MEA Meenakashi Lekhi, are aware of India’s agricultural potential.
“Our country was deficient in food production and now we have reached from low to surplus food production. People need to know that aspect of science also. The first experience will be about millets. India has been eating millets for a few thousand years. Then we would be showcasing our heritage and the scientific part.”
Meenakashi Lekhi further said that the second part of the day for the spouses of Global leaders was going to be about an exhibition called ‘Roots to Roots.’
“We are going to display the oldest chariot ever discovered, which we dug up in Sinauli. We have lithographs in our collection that are depictions of our historic musical instruments. This is significant because, in addition to the dinner that President Draupadi Murmu hosts for all the Heads of State, we also have a three-hour performance of all our historic musical instruments from the Hindustani and Carnatic traditions of Indian music. You’ll sort of see an ensemble,” she continued.
