Hemant Soren, the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), triumphed in the Barhait constituency of Jharkhand with a commanding victory, securing a margin of 95,612 votes. Located in Sahibganj district, Barhait is a reserved seat for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and holds significant political weight in the state.
The election took place in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, and Soren was vying for re-election from Barhait. The sitting MLA faced BJP’s Gamliyel Hembrom in a tight contest.
Soren, who previously won this seat in 2014 and 2019, was eager to retain his position. His success in Barhait reinforces his political stature and deepens his support base, particularly among the tribal communities in Jharkhand.
Following his win, Soren shared a heartfelt photo on social media, spending time with his two sons, captioning it “Meri Shakti” (My Strength), reflecting his deep family connection and their unwavering support throughout his political journey.
Despite strong competition, including challenges from Hembrom and other smaller party candidates like those from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Jharkhand Lok Kranti Morcha (JLKM), Soren’s victory highlights his continued dominance in the region, especially among Barhait’s tribal voters.
