Heavy rainfall has inundated various parts of Gujarat, including Surat, Amreli, and Valsad, leading to severe waterlogging as seen in videos shared by ANI. According to IMD Scientist Pradeep Sharma, quoted by ANI, Gujarat is expected to experience widespread rainfall over the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Dadra Nagar Haveli due to predictions of very heavy rain.

The IMD has attributed the ongoing heavy rainfall to cyclonic activity off the coast, particularly affecting Valsad and other districts in Southern Gujarat. Visual reports depict individuals wading through knee-deep water in Surat, where Palsana received 5.2 inches of rain and Surat city recorded 3.6 inches, according to Dainik Jagran. Over 2 inches of rain has been recorded in 11 talukas across the state.

The IMD forecasts continued very heavy rainfall in Surat, Valsad, Dang, Tapi, parts of Amreli, Navsari, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli over the next five days. Within the last six hours, 134 talukas in Gujarat have reported heavy rainfall, as reported by Dainik Jagran. Amid these conditions, Rajkot airport witnessed damage to its canopy during heavy rains on Saturday, marking the third such incident at an airport in recent days following Delhi and Jabalpur. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The IMD has cautioned that the prevailing weather conditions, influenced by cyclonic patterns, are expected to persist beyond earlier forecasts. Thunderstorms and cloud-to-ground lightning are also anticipated over the coming days.
