Health and Medical Minister Gajendra Singh informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that in compliance with the directives of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, a statewide joint campaign against illegal mining has been underway in the entire state since January 15.
He mentioned that as part of this campaign, actions have been taken against 18 instances of illegal mining, 38 instances of illegal excavation, and 28 instances of illegal storage in the Baran district.
During the question session, responding to supplementary questions posed by members on behalf of the Mining Minister, he highlighted that immediate action is taken under the rules as soon as information about illegal mining is received.
Prior to this, in response to a written supplementary question from MLA Lalit Meena, he provided a list on the floor of the house detailing the location and details of mining leases allocated in the Kishangarh constituency, as well as the allocation of mining leases in the Baran district over the past five years (from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2023).
He explained that mining operations are currently not active in the Baran district due to a lack of environmental clearance for the two allocated mining leases for mineral gravel. Once environmental clearance is obtained, mining operations will commence in these leases. Additionally, efforts are being made to allocate new mining leases for mineral gravel in Ataru, Chhabra, and Chipabdaud tehsils.
