JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura, HD Revanna, was released from Parappana Agrahara Jail on Tuesday after being granted conditional bail by a special court for people’s representatives. Revanna, who was arrested in connection with a kidnapping case related to the ‘obscene video’ incident, was granted bail on Monday.

The judge approved Revanna’s conditional bail on a bond of Rs 5 lakh. He had been detained on May 4 by Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials concerning the kidnapping case filed against him at KR Nagar police station in Bengaluru. Initially sent to judicial custody until May 14, Revanna’s release came after the special court’s decision.

Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, are under investigation by an SIT constituted by the Karnataka government following allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation made by a woman who worked in their household. The FIR, filed by KR Nagar police, charges HD Revanna and his associate under Sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 365 (kidnapping with intent to cause harm), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. The FIR names HD Revanna as the primary accused and Babanna as the second accused.

Revanna has dismissed the charges, calling them a “political conspiracy” against him. He stated to reporters, “It’s a political conspiracy going on against me. In my 40 years of political life, I have never seen anything like this.”
