The Bombay High Court criticized the Maharashtra government on Tuesday for its inaction against illegal hoardings and banners in Mumbai. The court emphasized the residents’ demand for the removal of hoardings defacing the city and causing obstacles. Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to comply with past orders, the court instructed the BMC to adhere to the Government Resolution (GR), requiring hoardings to have QR codes with permission details. The court, addressing a contempt plea, questioned the government’s commitment and suggested seeking police support to remove illegal hoardings and banners, emphasizing the need for stricter penalties.
