There is good news for schoolgirls in Haryana. As per new Education Department orders, a batch of 300 middle school students from classes 7th, 8th, and 9th will go on educational tours to various districts of the state at one go, that is, 100 girl students from each of these classes from one district will be selected.
According to the department’s notice, students will be required to score 70 percent or above in order to get selected for these tours. Further, preference will be given to those girl students who have never travelled outside their district before. The Directorate of School Education (DSE) has written a letter to all the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) of the state, in which instructions have been given to conduct educational tours for girl students studying in the state’s government schools.
The department will conduct educational tours for the all-round development of the students, the DSE’s letter read. Under the scheme, all 22 districts of the state have been divided into two groups. There will be a three-day, two-night tour for distant districts included in Group 1. This includes Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Mahendragarh, Faridabad, Palwal, Mewat, and Gurugram. The tours for Group 2 will be two days and one night, which includes Jind, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, Sonipat, Panipat, Kaithal, Yamunanagar, Panchkula and Ambala. There will also be tours organised in the district of Kurukshetra.
All district education officers of the state will get Rs 50,000 per district for local transport of the students, as well as for their accommodation, food, etc. On the day of travel, one female teacher will accompany the 100 girl students per class (10 girl students per school).
A three-member committee will be formed by the DEO or DEEO for the educational tour, which will select the girl students and spend the funds as per the departmental rules. Departmental officers will have to arrange buses at their own level for transportation.
The girl students will have to carry the school identity card and other essential daily use items. Along with this, the consent letter and medical-related information of the girl students will also be mandatory.
