Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong attack on Congress during a public rally in Palwal, Haryana, asserting that the party aims to “crush patriotism” in India through casteism and divisive politics.

In his speech, Modi accused Congress of failing to address the nation’s pressing issues, stating that the party has instead focused on advancing its own family interests. “Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled… They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. They did not allow the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya,” he said, emphasizing that Congress’s history is marred by inaction and false promises.

The Prime Minister further claimed that Congress seeks to mislead patriotic citizens and create rifts between communities. “BJP supporters are patriots… Congress wants to crush patriotism from this country by propagating casteism,” he declared.

Call for Unity and Voting

Modi encouraged voters in Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the ongoing election process, praising the democratic spirit of the electorate. He expressed gratitude for the support of Haryana’s Chief Minister and called on the people of Haryana to unite in their voting decisions, emphasizing the importance of working together for the nation’s future. “Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge – all those who love India will remain united,” he urged.

Criticism of Congress’s Governance

The Prime Minister also highlighted infighting within Congress and accused it of neglecting the interests of Dalits and backward communities. He criticized Congress for its approach in Karnataka, claiming that the party had revoked reservations for these communities after coming to power.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini echoed Modi’s sentiments, accusing Congress of utilizing deceitful tactics, stating, “The British used to say ‘divide and rule,’ but Congress says ‘lie and rule.'” He claimed that the BJP government has improved the lives of the poor in Haryana through various schemes.

Upcoming Elections

Haryana is set to vote on October 5 for its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting scheduled for October 8. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats.
