Haryana Government has launched the Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Limited (DRIISHYA) for surveying infrastructure projects, monitoring of agriculture and horticulture crops, and surveillance of sensitive areas for security purposes, etc.
While inaugurating the «Startup Symposium and Industry Ignite, 2023» in Chandigarh today, the Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that the Government of India has emphasised the need of utilising the drones and capturing images to understand the crop yield and crop damage due to inclement weather, so that compensation can be given to the farmers accordingly.
The Chief Secretary said that DRIISHYA will impart pilot drone training to the youngsters in the state which would generate employment opportunities for the youth. The state government is also using drones to curb illegal mining activities and ensure sustainable mining practices in the state. The government has been using drones to monitor and prevent stubble burning in the state. With this step, the stubble burning cases have come down to 47 percent as compared to the previous year. Now we are working to bring down the stubble burning cases to zero active fire incidents.
Speaking about the startups in Haryana, he said that Haryana is becoming a hub for a vibrant startup ecosystem in the country. “The state is just 2% of the population of India but the state contributes 6.5% share of the total GST revenue collected by the Union Government which itself speaks about the industrial progress of the state. Earlier, everyone used to talk about Bengaluru but now people mostly talk about Gurugram,” added Kaushal.
