The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and former President of Haryana Congress Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP coalition government is targeting lakhs of families in the state living below the poverty line (BPL) by taking away their bread from their plates. For the next four months, starting from November, the government has issued an order to reduce the supply of wheat and millet at the ration depot, while the BPL families in the state depend on ration received from the depot.
The decision to cut 4ration may create a crisis for these families. Instead of providing food to these families, the government is now engaged in extracting more profits from them. In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that it is a conspiracy to harass poor families who are dependent on ration depots.
This is not the first time that such attempts have been made to harass these families through ration depots. Several times, corruption cases related to salt, wheat, sugar, and expired mustard oil supplied to ration depots have come to light. The former Union Minister said that this is a clear indication that the state government is not concerned about more than 30 lakh poor families. The government is making every effort to snatch away the roti from their mouths. Kumari Selja said that ration is distributed to families holding yellow and pink cardholders under the Public Distribution System (PDS). In such a situation, it is clear that the state government is not concerned about the more than 30 lakh poor families. The government is making every effort to snatch away their morsels. Kumari Selja said that the BJP government in the state is working against the expectations of every class and issuing orders to harass the common people every day. She said that the public is ready to give an answer to the repressive policies of the existing government with the blow of their votes, which will be evident in the 2024 elections.
