There is a face crisis going on in Haryana Congress regarding the Lok Sabha elections. The party high command has also expressed concern regarding this. Big leaders of the party have also given their opinion regarding the Lok Sabha elections to the high command. After this, now on the instructions of the high command, the application process for election face leader is being started in the state.
The most important thing is that along with former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja has also refrained from contesting the Lok Sabha elections. Both the leaders have also expressed their wish to the high command.
If party sources are to be believed, other big leaders of the party have also flatly refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, the party is now looking for new faces.
There are 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, all these seats are held by the BJP which is in power in the state. In the general elections held in 2019, Bhupendra Singh Hooda, who was CM for 10 years, lost from Sonipat and his son Deependra Singh Hooda lost from Rohtak.
Apart from these, veteran Congress leader Kumari Selja, former state president Dr. Ashok Tanwar (now in BJP), former minister Captain Ajay Yadav, Chaudhary Nirmal Singh, Kuldeep Bishnoi’s son Bhavya Bishnoi (now in BJP), Kiran Chaudhary. Shruti Choudhary, daughter of former MP Avtar Singh Bhadana, had lost the Lok Sabha elections.
The close contest between Deependra Singh Hooda and Arvind Sharma in Rohtak continued till the end, but in the end Deependra was declared defeated by a margin of 7503 votes.
There are three big reasons for the distance between big leaders in Haryana Congress. The first reason is that BJP has been in power in Haryana for 10 years. For this reason, there is an anti-incumbency wave, the party is expected to get its benefit in the Assembly instead of the Lok Sabha. The second big reason is that this time again Modi magic is likely to work in the Lok Sabha.
The main reason for this is that in the recent assembly elections held in 5 states, BJP has won in 3 states. PM Modi did not contest these elections, but even after this BJP got victory. Lok Sabha elections will be held in the name of Modi only. In such a situation, adverse situations may arise in the Lok Sabha elections.
Application forms for those wishing to contest elections on behalf of the party will be distributed in the party office from January 30. The last date for submitting applications has been kept after 9 days i.e. on 7th February. Party leaders wishing to contest elections from all the 10 Lok Sabha seats of the state can submit their application forms to the State Congress Office, Chandigarh by 5 pm on the last date so that the process of selection of candidates can be started.
Congress in-charge in Haryana, Deepak Babaria, while giving the reasoning behind this, said that the party will select a suitable candidate for better results in the elections. Arrangements are being made by the Congress Party to ensure voter participation and to take comprehensive feedback in the selection of capable candidates in the upcoming elections.
