On Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid tribute to the victims of the partition in Kurukshetra on Wednesday. He emphasized the errors made by Radcliffe in delineating borders without understanding Indian culture, which contributed to the tragedies of partition.

CM Saini remarked, “In 1947, an English officer named Radcliffe was assigned the task of drawing the border to separate Pakistan from India. Radcliffe, unfamiliar with Indian culture, demographics, and geography, had never visited India.” He further added, “Millions lost their lives and livelihoods due to the mistakes of others. The atrocities faced by women during that time remain horrifying even today.”

Earlier, CM Saini also expressed his tribute to the victims on X, stating, “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day reminds us of the suffering and struggle endured by those who faced the pain of displacement. I respectfully honor the martyrs who lost their lives during the Partition Horrors of 1947 on this solemn occasion.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the partition victims, highlighting the importance of honoring their courage. On the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “On #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay, we remember the countless individuals deeply impacted by the horrors of Partition. This day serves as a tribute to their courage, demonstrating the power of human resilience. Many who were affected by Partition rebuilt their lives and achieved great success. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the bonds of unity and brotherhood in our nation.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid homage, stating, “On ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,’ I pay tribute to the millions who endured unimaginable suffering, lost their lives, and were rendered homeless during one of history’s most brutal episodes. By remembering and learning from this history, a nation can build a strong future and emerge as a power. The tradition of observing this day, initiated by Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, is a significant step towards nation-building.
