The Facebook page of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was hacked into late on Wednesday. Hackers also made a post after removing the photo of the former CM. The image that they tampered with was Hooda’s profile picture, which was replaced with a “NEWS” logo.
According to information from Hooda’s office, efforts are being made to recover the account. IT experts said that recovery may take three to four days. Two years ago, the former CM’s Twitter account had also been compromised. At the time, the account itself was tampered with and Bhupinder Hooda’s Twitter handle was replaced with @ILoveAlbaik.
Prior to the hack, Hooda had nearly one million followers on his Facebook page. He follows only one person. Due to his ongoing tussle with certain members of his own party in Haryana, speculations about possible political motivations behind the hack are on the rise. Given that the profile picture on Hooda’s page had been changed, people wondered whether the former CM was going to make a big announcement or had explosive news to share. Later, however, it was found that the profile had in fact been hacked. Two years ago, the Twitter accounts of two senior politicians of Haryana were hacked. In addition to CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s account, Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh’s Twitter account has also been hacked and a message has been written on it in Urdu. Hooda has 302.1K followers on Twitter and follows 329 people.
