PANCHKULA: The Battalion, Ladakh Scouts regiment, also known as Zedang Sumpa, commemorated its silver jubilee at Chandimandir Cantonment with remarkable splendour. The event was graced by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as the chief guest, who, alongside Lt Gen MKS Katiyar, AVSM GOC-in-C Head Quarter Western Command, unveiled the silver jubilee trophy of the Battalion.
Originally established as the Nubra Guards in 1948, the 3rd Battalion, Ladakh Scouts, assumed its present form in 2000. Since then, it has emerged as one of the preeminent mountain warfare specialized units in the Indian Army. Over the past twenty-five years, the Battalion has demonstrated its excellence in various operations along borders and hinterlands, providing invaluable support to civil authorities. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya received a warm welcome from Col Ashish Mohanty, Commanding Officer of the 3rd Battalion, Ladakh Scouts, and Col Jasdeep Sandhu, Advisor, Civil Military Affairs, Western Command, during the event. The Army Commander of Western Command commended the unit for its professionalism and extended best wishes for all its future endeavors.
