The Gurugram Police, as reported by news agency ANI, confirmed the recovery of former model Divya Pahuja’s body from a canal in Haryana. The discovery follows the recent arrest of Balraj Gill, one of the murder suspects, at the Kolkata airport.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Kumar Dahiya stated that Pahuja’s body was found in the subsidiary canal of the Bhakra canal in Tohana, situated in Haryana’s Fatehabad district.

The 27-year-old Pahuja was fatally shot in a Gurugram hotel room on January 2. The motive behind the murder, as per the police, was Pahuja’s alleged extortion of money from the hotel owner by threatening to expose him with “obscene pictures.”

Gill, who had initially fled from Patiala, abandoning his vehicle near the bus stand, was apprehended at Kolkata airport. Another suspect, Ravi Banga, is still at large.

Gurugram ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya provided an update on the arrests, stating, “The accused in the murder of model Divya Pahuja, Balraj Gill, was taken into custody from Kolkata airport on Thursday. He had gone missing after abandoning his car near the Patiala bus stand. Ravi Banga, another accused, is still absconding.”

Divya Pahuja’s murder involved the alleged participation of hotel owner Abhijeet Singh and two others. They purportedly transported her body to Patiala after the crime. The Gurugram Police, on January 5, reported the recovery of the car believed to have been used to dispose of Pahuja’s body.

Karan Singh, a constable from the Gurugram Police’s Crime Branch, explained the vehicle’s discovery, saying, “The car was captured in a security camera as being parked near the toll plaza. We learned that the vehicle was being driven towards Patiala. We were trying to trace the vehicle that was used in the crime.”

The police disclosed that six teams from the Crime Branch, operating under the Special Investigation Team (SIT), were involved in investigating the case. These teams conducted searches for the body in various locations across Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

In connection with the murder, Megha, who was arrested earlier, was revealed to have been in contact with Abhijeet Singh for about one and a quarter months. Following Divya’s murder, Megha had come to Gurugram upon Abhijeet’s call.
